Day 5 - Wednesday Ministry
Today we changed things up and did our "Ask the Lord" day today. We spent the morning just listening to the Lord and asking him where He would want us to do and where He would want us to go. After some time of prayer and listening several students felt led to help again with the VBS, several felt led to help with some service at the home of the Bishop's house from the host church, others felt led to go to a nearby homeless shelter and others felt called to go back on the streets and share with those they encountered. This was a great teaching time for the students to learn to listen to the One who can guide them better than any person, book or media on TV. They listened to God and God taught them in their experiences today.
We visited Arlington Cemetery and witnessed the changing of the guard. It was humbling to be in the presences of so many who had given their lives for our freedom. This seemed to be a great point of reflection for our students.
From there we went back on the streets to listen to God's leading for some more conversations. We spent more time in the capital district. Our students are taking some amazing steps out of their comfort zones. Their stories have been inspiring and encouraging.
We came back to the church tonight and we shared the encouraging comments from back home. They really brought a spirit of joy and happiness to their faces. We then debriefed our "Ask the Lord" day and finished with another amazing time of worship.
It's now pretty late so we're going to turn in. Two more days left but I still sense that God still has something BIG in store for our group. Continue to pray that we would be open, available and willing to follow where he leads us.
